Uite,
mi-aduc bine aminte,
toată povestea,
de-a fir a păr ...
Eram cuminte,
în adevăr,
de-o săptămînă,
deşi nu-mi prea venea
la-ndemînă !
Era primăvară,
umblau razna pe-afară
subiecte ceva mai plăcute
decît aritmetica
de-a patra primară
(« Dacă trei trenuri
pornesc dintr-o gară ... »)
- Măi, făcu tata,
să nu te
deochi !
Ce-ai păţit ?
Ce-i cu tine ?
Ţi se cuvine, cred,
o răsplată !
- Da, tată ! zisei
Şi ştiam
că răsplata-i acolo, în pridvor :
îi văzusem pe geam
cum se furişau binişor,
mai adineauri – tata şi ea ...
Şi iată-mă-n şa,
tremurînd de plăcere,
de teamă, de-o mîndrie netoată ...
- Bagă de seamă,
nu te uita la roată !
- Da, tată!
... Dar numai la ea mă uitam ,
ca vrăjit ...
Negreşit,
de n-ar fi fost tata
să mă ajute,
s-alerge-n urmă ocrotitor,
puternic şi iute,
ţinînd de şa,
de mult eram sub roţi !
Şi roţile şopteau şuierător:
« N-ai să poţi,
n-ai să poţi ! »
Singur – nici pomeneală
să te-avînţi
pe dihania asta, călare ! »
- Vezi că poţi ?
rîse tata, din zare ...
M-am uitat îndărăt,
cu sfială,
şi era cît pe-aci
să cad jos, de mirare :
pedalam singur, dînd din picioare
mai dihai decat ucenicii
lui Dumnezeu,
din aripile lor strălucitoare ...
Aşadar – pot şi eu !
De-atunci, am pedalat mereu
de capul meu,
şi nimeni, nicicînd,
nu m-a mai sprijinit.
Doar în gînd
murmuram cîteodată :
- Da, tată !
Şi pedalam singur,
semeţ, fericit !
